Micro-Metrics OG212 Aluminum Tooke Paint Inspection Gauge

Micro-Metrics’ OG212 Tooke Paint Inspection Gauge is a precision tool for inspection and thickness measurement of single or multiple coating layers on any substrate, and for microscopic observation and measurement of substrate and film defects.

SKU: MIC-OG212 Category: Tags: , ,

Micro-Metrics’ OG212 Tooke Paint Inspection Gauge is used to examine a cross-section of cured coatings to measure thickness or analyze coating problems. Using a special cutting tool integral to the gauge, a small, precision V-groove is made through the paint film and into the substrate. This groove is observed with an illuminated, 50-power microscope bearing a measuring scale, making possible the direct measurement of coating thickness. The Tooke Gauge has been used to assess sandblast, measure plating and paint thickness on ceramics, metal, wood, concrete and plastics, as well as the protective backing on mirrors.

The OG212 is fitted with an universal microscope with a measuring reticule permitting measurements in mils, microns, and millimeters. Enhanced dual-measure scope features a reticle marked in mills and microns. Three precision Tungsten-carbide cuttings tips are mounted in the side of the anodized-aluminum gauge body.

The Tooke Paint Inspection Gauge is used for coatings evaluation in accordance with ASTM D4138 – 07a:  Standard Practices for Measurement of Dry Film Thickness of Protective Coating Systems by Destructive, Cross-Sectioning Means
