NEW TITLE HERE
Western Instruments’ Imperial Dial Reaching Pit Gauge features an end-mounted dial indicator on the end of the 152 mm (6″) blade allows the inspector to measure pit depth over areas of significant weight-loss corroded that will not allow the use of the Standard Pit Gauge Blade. The end nose cut-out permits the Gauge to sit right up to a weld, and may reach over the weld to confirm edge alignment and undercut. This feature allows the inspector to measure corrosion on the toe of the weld.
When configured with a Riser, Gusset, or Reinforcing Pad, you can rotate the dial indicator by 90°, re-zero, and measure up to 9.5mm (⅜”) from the obstruction. A pit that is wide and shallow, as defined by ASTM G46, the blade can reference the zero point and reach the dial contact point above the opening of the pit up to 150 mm (6″) in diameter, if accessible from both sides. Please ensure there is contact and reference to parent material.
The Reaching Pit Gauge can be used for weld inspection on height and depth parameters (undercut, weld reinforcement, and edge alignment).
