NEW TITLE HERE
Chlor*Test A Abrasives Test Kit by Chlor*Rid International is a self-contained soluble salt test kit containing everything needed for simple and accurate measurement of chlorides in abrasive blast media. Chlor*Test A gives values in both parts per million (ppm) and micrograms per centimetre squared (µg/cm2).
Many coatings have failed from chlorides deposited on a surface by contaminated abrasive. Chlor*Test A makes on-site testing of abrasives before blasting possible. Self-contained and easy-to-use, Chlor*Test A provides accurate results in minutes; no need to send samples to a laboratory, no waiting days for results, no high cost! Chlor*Test A can be used to test any abrasive for contamination by chloride salt.
Cross-contamination, from test to test, is eliminated through one-time use of individual test components. The components are pre-measured to ensure accurate results in parts per million (ppm). In addition, no temperature correction is needed from 41ºF to 176ºF. Chlor*Test A uses ASTM D4940* principals, but offers the additional value of chloride ion specific measurements.
Testing abrasives for soluble salts is easy with ChlorTest A.
- Collect the measured sample of abrasive in the container supplied.
- Pour the measured abrasive into the pre-measured jar of ChlorTest solution, replace the lid tightly, and vigorously shake the container for 2 minutes. Allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes, or until there is about 1/2 inch of clear solution at the top of the jar. Do not proceed before this has settled out.
- Snap the ends off the glass titrator tube and insert the arrow end into the clear solution at the top of the sample. In about 2 minutes, the colour change will indicate the chloride levels present in the sample.
Each Chlor*Test A Abrasives Test Kit it contains four (4) individual tests. Bulk packs with 40 tests are also available.
*Standard Test Method for Conductimetric Analysis of Water Soluble Ionic Contamination of Blasting Abrasives
All Chlor*Test Kits are available in bulk packs of 40 or 50 tests per pack.
