The Western Instruments’ Metric Pocket Pit Gauge is useful for measuring the pit on a curvature. The Pocket Pit Gauge features a reversible blade for measurement on flat and curved surfaces.
To zero on a compound curvature, reverse to the spot side, and loosen the set screw holding the dial indicator. Place the blade on a similar curve to the area to be inspected. Gently set on surface and tighten the set screw to clamp the dial indicator, then proceed to measure the pit on a compound curvature.
